The one who got away.

I recently watched a movie (a very horribly done one) that was based on " the one who got away" and this mans quest to get her back. It got me to thinking, "There's always that one who got away" doesn't have to be true. If you have someone, and you know it's meant to be, just don't give them an excuse to leave... And if they do leave, well then, you should probably just accept the fact that the world has other plans for you and it just might be the next person that is the one you are meant to hold on to.

weird timing, bad timing, or perfect timing?

I've had several people refer to love at first sight today, so this is how I feel about it.

I've never believed in love at first sight. I still don't. I believe that love is a compilation of memories, experiences, and emotions shared over a stretch of time. You can really learn to love any one. From person to person, it won't be the same, but you'll have moments where you will say to yourself, "Hey, this feels familiar."

A question for myself is, if I don't believe in love at first sight, then what should I call that feeling when you see someone you don't know and your body/mind tells you there some connection there? A deeper connection, beyond physical attraction. I know, positively, it is not love. I have loved. Maybe not as much as I could love someone else, but enough to know what it is. I suppose not every emotion needs a name and not every situation needs a title, but it's something I'd like to help myself understand.

One other thing I'd like to touch upon.. I don't really understand how someone could say they love you after one or two weeks of seeing each other. I know so many people who just throw it in the equation. I really believe it's losing it's meaning. Friends will just start saying it, or typing it, and in reality, they barely know the person they claim to love. How does that make sense? Call me old fashion, but say it and mean it. Understand it and feel it.

What's your perspective?

I have recently noticed how different my reactions are from that of my friends and family. Understandably, we are all individual and come from different upbringings, but it got me thinking, how is it that I view a situation so different than that of the person sitting right beside me seeing the exact same thing I am seeing. This little rant has nothing to do with me thinking they are right or wrong, it's just interesting to me.

I was waiting in line at Hannaford to get rung up and there was a lady in front of me, paying for her groceries. She accidentally gave the lady $1 short of the total, so the cashier asked her for another dollar, what I thought was politely. The customer heard the cashier ask for the dollar in a snappy tone and started yelling all sorts of absurd things (Some of which didn't make sense or even work in that sentence.) Threw the dollar at her, and took off.

What I was thinking was, maybe the cashier was being snappy, maybe I don't recognize it. Maybe the customer wanted to get mad at someone and the cashier was the closest person. How can one really tell. I mean, there are some situations where it is extremely obvious that someone is being very polite, and in this case the cashier was being pretty neutral. (Not really smiling or showing enthusiasm)

Maybe that's what I'll do this winter. A little project. I'll watch peoples reactions in certain situations, jot it down in a notepad, and then write what I gathers from the situation.

This could be interesting.

Life: Today and a little bit of Yesterday.: you beg, steal, you borrow

Life: Today and a little bit of Yesterday.: you beg, steal, you borrow: "Hold on.It goes by so fast. In this city, there is so much to do, but I have yet to try any of it. I've found the few things ..."

you beg, steal, you borrow

Hold on.
It goes by so fast.

In this city, there is so much to do, but I have yet to try any of it. I've found the few things that make me happy, and I stick to them. One, is my weekly trip to my favorite cafe where I buy a medium house-roast coffee, banana bread, and sit in my favorite corner. The other things is riding my bike to the pier at night, watching the boats, occasionally bringing a friend and a bottle of some bubbly. There is just something about being near the water that seems to have a place in my heart.

On a recent late night trip to the pier, I went with one of my best friends AP. The trip to the pier didn't really have any purpose other than to just sit there. We both enjoy the place and find the water comforting.

So here we are, two girls, sharing a bottle of Riesling and discussing our many woes and troubles as of lately. It was nice, we weren't alone, but there was no one disturbing us. We discussed things in detail and tried and figure out a few of life's questions.

Nothing was really accomplished or solved, but by the time we both got home, a weight had been lifted off our shoulders, and I had a great nights sleep. You can't really ask for anything more.
